The goal will be to increase efficiency and indirectly reduce the amount of emissions at power plants.

Energy Storage at Substation and Telecommunications Sites - A study that examines the technology and analyzes the cost of options to store increased amounts of energy at electrical substations and telecommunications sites, which could result in improved reliability.

 Smart Wires - Smart wires are small electronic modules in development which can be attached to power line conductors and inject or withdraw reactive power. The result could stabilize voltage and cancel system imbalance.

Power Transfer Ratings (thermal rating/weather sensitivity) - A statistical analysis of weather data, load history and line conductor capability that could lead to safely predicting the best power flow capability with minimum risk of overload damage.
